About Takumi Path
Takumi (匠) is the Japanese word for a master artisan — someone who has spent decades refining a single craft. Across Japan, families and small workshops still forge knives, cast iron kettles, throw pottery and lacquer bowls using techniques passed down for generations.
Takumi Path is based in Japan. Our goal is simple: help people outside Japan understand these crafts properly, choose authentic Japanese-made pieces, and — when they visit — find the towns and workshops where the work happens. When you buy from Japanese makers and visit craft regions, you help keep these traditions alive.
How we write
- We cite our sources at the end of every guide.
- We never pretend to have tested a product we have not used.
- We favour genuine Japanese-made goods over “Japanese-style” imitations, and tell you how to spot the difference.
- We keep guides updated when prices, availability or facts change.
